Our story began at Stanford University

where co-founders Baiju and Vlad were roommates and classmates. After graduation, they packed their bags and headed to New York City, where they founded two financial firms and sold their trading software to hedge funds. There, they discovered that large Wall Street companies paid almost nothing to trade stocks, while most investors were charged commissions per trade. Determined to change this, they returned to California to build a financial product that would give everyone—not just the wealthy—access to financial markets.
